My mother grew up in the small town of Berlin, WI.  When I was growing up, we frequently traveled to Berlin to visit my grandmother and cousins. I saw Berlin as our family's home land and thought that Crawfords would be in Berlin forever. But family members have died or moved on, leaving barely a trace.

This book is based on a pilgrimage my father, brother and I took in the early 90s, along with more recent trips to photo-graph.
